I’m Gill, and I work as a maternity photographer in the City of Knox.
Hi, I’m Gill, and I work as a lifestyle photographer. I’m based in the Outer Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, in Boronia. I’m a mum to 2 kids, who constantly keep me busy and on my toes. With over a decade of experience behind the lens, I take a lot of pride in the photos I take and the stories I get to tell.
Pregnancy is often exhausting and feels like a VERY long nine months, but I also think it's important to capture those moments in photographs to celebrate the beauty of the process. My kids love seeing maternity photos that I had taken when they were in my belly. It’s part of my story and part of theirs theirs.
I enjoy serving the city of Knox and the surrounding suburbs as a maternity photographer.
My family and I have lived in Boronia, within the city of Knox, for over five years now, and we love the area for different reasons. As a lifestyle photographer, I love the flexibility of shooting in different locations, whether in different homes or outdoor locations within Knox and its surroundings. This can be for maternity, newborn and family shoots. I have many beautiful locations bayside or within the Dandenong Ranges that I use frequently, but if you’d rather stay close to home, there is so much potential on our doorstep. Within the city of Knox, plenty of parks and reserves offer beautiful backdrops for photos. If I want updated photos of my kids, I often use a reserve just around the corner from us in Boronia. Looking at these photos, you’d never know they were taken in the heart of a suburb as it creates such a green and beautiful setting.
What to expect at your maternity session with me in Knox.
When booking in your maternity shoot, I’m here to guide you from start to finish. Clients often tell me they’ve only ever had their photo taken on their wedding day and aren’t sure of the process. I’m happy to answer any questions, offer advice on what to wear, and educate you on the best time and location to take your maternity photos.
On the day of your maternity shoot, I’ll be there to guide you to ensure we get the best out of the location and the light and get the most relaxed photos for you. Apologies in advance, there may be a few bad jokes from me to help with this!
Dogs, partners and siblings are always welcome to be part of your maternity session too!

FAQs for Maternity photography
How many weeks pregnant should I be for my maternity photos?
The general rule is to have your maternity photos taken between 34 and 37 weeks. This way, your bump is prominent, but you are still relatively comfortable. However, maternity photos can be taken any time in your 3rd trimester and it is sometimes easier to have them taken a little earlier if you’ve also got a toddler who will be running around at the session.
What if it rains for my outdoor maternity session?
Melbourne’s weather is annoyingly unpredictable. Sometimes we won’t know if the rain will really hold off until the minute of your session. But we’ll do our best to go ahead with your maternity session, and if we really need to reschedule, we’ll find another time to suit us both. Don’t forget, clouds and even light rain can also make for an incredibly beautiful backdrop.
It is worth keeping in mind not to schedule your maternity session in for too late in your pregnancy incase we need to reschedule due to the weather and then we run out of time before baby comes.
Can I include other people in my maternity shoot?
Partners and soon-to-be siblings are always welcome to be part of your session. (Dogs welcome too!) The focus will be of you and your bump but it’s such an important time for the whole family that I’d strongly encourage them to get involved too!
I’m not really comfortable having my photo taken. Should I still have maternity photos taken?
Absolutely! I’m not very comfortable having my own photo taken so I can relate to this. I remember being even more uncomfortable when I was pregnant, but now I’m so glad I made the effort to get some maternity photos taken. Let me know if you’re particularly uncomfortable about having your photo taken and I’ll make sure to keep this in mind and guide you as best I can to make you feel more comfortable and get the best out of your photos.
